activities at the booth
Shorinji Kempo is a Japanese martial art of self-defense, combining the system of strikes and defenses using the feet and fists with the system of grabs, releases, projections and immobilizations. It is also based on Zazen meditation and the philosophical principles of Japanese Buddhism.
Every year, the Shorinji Kempo Marseille club presents demonstrations of the different aspects of this traditional Japanese martial art:
- Chinkon: Zazen meditation
- Group katas
- Embus: ceremonial forms of combat in pairs
- Gôhô Hôkei: attack and defense techniques in pairs, using fists and feet, dodging, defending and counter-attacking
- Jûhô Hôkei: attack and defense techniques in pairs using grabs, releases, immobilizations and projections.
Introductory sessions in foot/fist defense (Gôhô) and grappling (Jûhô) are also offered.
