It's not carnival! Like every year and every edition, Japan Expo makes a point of highlighting one of the most inseparable activities of shows specializing in Japanese culture: cosplay.
A conjunction of “costume” and “play”, a cosplay is the expression of the creativity of those who wear and make them. Cosplayers put themselves in the shoes of their favorite characters and get together for special occasions.
In 2025, Japan Expo Marseille guarantees cosplayers a jam-packed program of activities, sure to please lovers of hand made outfits.
Those who design them, those who wear them and those who simply admire them from afar.
Competitions, guest stars, special gatherings, photocalls...

GUESTS
Japan Expo Marseille is an event that brings together world-renowned personalities.
This year's event is no exception: cosplayers travel from abroad to take an interest in your outfits, letting you contemplate their work in the process.
A guest at Japan Expo in 2016 and 2019, Yuegene Fay is coming to the South of France for the first time: meet this renowned cosplayer whose talent has been recognized many times around the world!
Two Englishwomen are also making the trip: Tsupo and Clood, the latest winning duo from World Cosplay Summit 2023. The pair will have their own booth in the heart of the Cosplay Village, and will serve as jury for the French selection of the World Cosplay Summit.
Latvia's veteran cosplayer SayoChuu is honoring us with her presence in the Cosplay Village, and will also be jury of the French selection for the World Cosplay Summit.
Mori Misaki, touring cosplayer, returns to Japan Expo Marseille to share otaku culture, Japanese culture and her passion for cosplay with you!

COMPETITION - WORLD COSPLAY SUMMIT 2025
The World Cosplay Summit is an international competition that celebrates cosplay and allows competitors to show off their hard work in pairs on stage during a wild show! Check out the French qualifications at the festival!
COSPLAY SHOW
Cosplay Shows are one of the must-attend events at Japan Expo Marseille! Every year, talented cosplayers, both amateur and experienced, take to the stage to put on a colorful show.
COSPLAY GATHERING
Wanna take a group photo with all the cosplayers whose cosplays are from the same series?
Japan Expo Marseille invites you to Hall 2, in front of 3 special sets, for themed photocalls with anonymous people who are just as much fans as you are of the most unifying of franchises.
In honor of Yoîchi Takahashi's visit, a special Captain Tsubasa photocall is planned.

ACTIVITIES
COSPLAY VILLAGE
In Hall 2 you'll find the Cosplay Village, a place where cosplayers are citizens of their own community. In this meeting place, you're far more likely to come across someone in an extravagant outfit than anywhere else in the festival.
As well as being the stronghold of professional cosplayer booths, you're likely to meet, share, take part in workshops and have access to services specially designed for cosplayers (photo shoots, repairs, etc.).
KIDAI STUDIO
Find the perfect composition with the Kidai Studio team, a group of professional photographs who will crystallize your cosplay and your memories in a flash.
(Appointment required on D-day, service totally free of charge).
