Introduction

Shôgi (literally "Generals’ chess") was played in the Middle-Ages by shôgun and samurai as a martial art for the mind. Through centuries, it became one of the most popular games in Japan.

It’s played with a chessboard, shôgiban, with 81 squares. At the beginning of the game, each player has 20 flat, slightly pointed, pieces. The aim is to take the adversary’s king.

Program

Come attend the workshops to learn how to play shôgi, Japanese chess, on the area organized by the Consulate General of Japan in Marseille.
