Meet them on Funglisoft Productions’ booth (number M.08) and for official signing sessions in the Signing Session Room at 3.00 p.m. on Friday, February 19 at Japan Expo Sud!

Philippe Cardona was born on June 9, 1978 in Marseille and is a scriptwriter and illustrator of French comics. He lives in Aix-en-Provence.
Growing up with cartoons such as Albator in the 80s, but also with the popular magazines of the time such as Journal de Mickey and Pif gadget, as well as the works of authors from the publisher Dupuis, then by comic books and the first Manga translated in France or imported; Cardona is studying art and Japanese when he meets Florence Torta. They have never been away from one another since then. As many people consider him, wrongly, only as a “nostalgic from the Albator generation” he has always been a fan of modern Manga, Anime, comic books and comics. His cult Manga is One Piece.
From 1998 to 2000, he is in charge of the fanzine Dream On. Within this fanzine, he created Space Pirate Chantilly, D.Knights, and with Florence Torta, l'École des Héros, which was to be the basis of Sentaï School. At the same moment, he published Le Cœur de Xatim.
After the fanzine stopped being published, he worked on other projects until some day in 2002 when Gérald Galliano from the club MeluZine suggested to Philippe and Florence to contact Coyote Magazine which was looking for comics authors at the moment. That’s what they did with L'école des Héros. It was a success. The series got a new name, Sentaï School and is published in the magazine. A year later, the first volume is published by Semic in the collection Semic Manga.
At the same time, he was also working on another series for the magazine Manga Kids: Serge, le hamster de l’enfer. The first volume was published in July 2006. Philippe Cardona also works on adapting the cartoon Foot 2 Rue into comics and started to publish a new series in July 2008: Magical JanKen Pon. Visit his blog!
