Contest : ASCII Art

Still innovating, South Japan Expo launches this year a new artistic contest. If you wish you could draw and spend your day on your computer, you'll be happy to express your talent!

Indeed, the goal of this contest is to make a drawing by using only figures, letters, characters and symbols from computer fonts: that's ASCII Art! For a more precised definition you can look at the Wikipedia page.

Here is a beautiful example we made ourselves with care^^

At the end of the contest, all the participations will be taken into accound and the best works will be rewarded!

Useful information

The principle of the contest is simple:
  • Create a new document .txt (usually with notepad) that you will name « MY_NAME.My-lastname.ASCII.JE_Sud_2.txt »
  • Make your ASCII drawing with a keyboard allowing you to typeavec tout ce que votre clavier vous permet de taper (don't hesitate to use special characters!)
  • Save it!
  • Do a screen printing that you will save in .jpg under the same name(MY_NAME.My-lastname.ASCII.JE_Sud_2.jpg) so that we'd be sure that your drawing is correctly displayed in .txt
  • Send us the whole, only by email!

Theme: None! For the contest launch, we give you total freedom!

Constraints: You can use any characters accepted by .txt and only those to make your drawing

Format: document .txt only for the creation, document .jpg in addition(no obligation) for checking

Participation by email only
Send us your two files with the same names and lastnames, with your age, email address and postal address at:

Subject of the message: ASCII contest

Contest time: two sessions are organized:
  • From 8th December 2009 to 3rd January 2010
  • From 4th January 2009 to 31st January 2010

End of the contest: the emails sent after the 31st January at midnight will not be taken into account!

Prizes, prize awarding
The 3 winners of each session will each win a free ticket for South Japan Expo 2nd wave, available the day of their choice. They will receive it by post, at the end of the contest.
